I have not traveled out of the US since the early 1980's and that was to the UK, Scotland. So I had not updated international shot record and my

US passport was beyond expired. So shots 1st which required some information. I went on line to the
CDC web site and found out for travel to Sierra Leone, West Africa the following vaccine recommendations included Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A or immune globulin (IG), Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Rabies and Polio. And being up to date on routine immunizations: measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria/pertussis /tetanus (DPT) vaccine, and poliovirus vaccine. Hepatitis A & B required a series of seven shots.

I might have avoided some of these vaccines if I had kept my international shot
record which was started back in the Marine Corp back in 1977. In the first few days of bootcamp (13 weeks) they had us lined up like cattle with Navy Hospital Corpsmen with these shot guns on each side. Not sure what was worse this immunization shot line or the 1st day on the rifle range. (ok another story). Lesson - don't loose your shot record.
